2012 - Oh What a Year! 2013 - RETIREMENT?

We are so glad that 2012
Family at Mom's Memorial Service
Billings, MT - Oct 2012
has come and gone!
Here is 2012 in a nutshell!

  • Randy's knee injury: Kept him on crutches for 8 weeks and many hours of rehab.  He finally reached MMI (maximum medical improvement) at the end of May and was sent back to work with some pretty stringent limitations which makes it hard for him to do his job like he used to do!  We are still working with an attorney and hoping to get this ordeal settled and done before too long!
  • April - June:  Tona's Mother's health took a turn for the worse and was put under hospice care which required daily trips to the assisted living home because we had to be a significant part of her care in able to keep her there.  She passed away June 17th.  We gathered in Billings, MT on Oct 5th to lay her to rest next to my father.
  • Tona continued to work two jobs throughout the summer: First Presbyterian Church full time and 20 hours a week at the KOA campground where we are currently living.
  • After the dust from the first part of the year settled, Tona finally had time to see a doctor about the severe pain in her back and at the end of October under went a lumbar fusion - a surgery that she will definitely state is not for the faint at heart!  But even with the slow recovery it is better than dealing with the sciatic pain every day!

2013 is bringing big changes to our world

and we are excited!

  • Our second granddaughter will be born in late March! Rosalynn Dee and her big sister, Nani is beyond excited!  Well so are her Grandma and Grampa!  We are hoping to be able to spend the first week in April in Austin just loving on the whole family!
  • Tona is RETIRING!  Yup!  the biggest news of all - well at least the most life changing for us! Hopefully we will be able to head for Austin later this year and take some time to rest and catch up while we establish a new "domicile!"  There are a few things that need to fall into place yet so we are praying and asking the Good LORD for grace!   A little bit scary but also an adventure that we have been dreaming about for many years!  'The Journey to Our Dream' has truly begun!
So if you are ever wondering where in the world the Ballingers are, just logon to our blog. For now we are still in Fort Collins. I'm going to try very had to keep it ups to date and hopefully tell a funny story or two along the way!
